Hazing

So hazing isn't something that I had ever thought about much until I got to college. I thought it was just harmless stuff that sororities and fraternitys did as part of the initiation process. I myself am not joining one of those institutions, but friends from home have decided to do that. So the other day as I was talking to a friend I heard about a kid from my school who goes to a big southern school. He joined a frat and was having alot of fun. Two days ago he went into the hospital with 30% of his body burned from some type of fire that caught onto his shirt. Rumor has it that it was part of a hazing activity. In my opinion, this is uterly ridiculous. Putting someones life in danger should not signify whether they are "cool" enough to be a part of a group or not. Having people do ridiculous stunts or they can't hang out with you isn't a tradition, its just stupid. There are other ways to have fun with the pledges where no one gets hurt.

  1. I agree with what your saying. One of my suite mates is currently in the frat rushing/hazing faze and we don't see him all day until he gets home at around 2AM-3AM every morning.
